Department of Communication Graduate Program Application for Admission Application and Admission Procedures: Prospective students should discuss their goals and interests with the graduate program coordinator, Dr. Peter Wollheim, prior to submitting an application. An applicant must follow the general application procedures for admission to a graduate program (see the Graduate Admission Regulations section of the BSU Graduate Catalog) and submit the following to Dr. Wollheim:
1. Complete the online Application for Admission to the Department of Communication Graduate Program 2. A letter of intent (describing background, academic interests, and career goals) 3. Two letters of recommendation from academic faculty 4. An original, scholarly paper.
Once the file for an applicant is complete, it will be evaluated by the coordinator, and an admission recommendation (regular, provisional, or denial) will be forwarded to the graduate dean. The graduate dean will make the final admission decision and notify the applicant. Deadlines Application deadlines for students seeking graduate admission to the Department of Communication without consideration for graduate assistantships: September 1 - Spring Semester Admissions March 1 - Fall Semester Admissions
March 1 - Applicants seeking a Department of Communication Graduate Teaching Assistantship or Graduate Research Assistantship must submit all application materials and an Application for Graduate Assistantship by March 1 for both semesters. If March 1 falls on a weekend, the deadline is extended to 5 pm the following Monday.
